The Virtuous Woman

Below are some of my favorite verses about the "virtuous woman" from Proverbs 31. Definitely a favorite passage of mine over time!

"Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.
She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her:
Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord,
She shall be praised."

The "virtuous woman" from this passage has always been one of my role models. Everything about this passage challenges and encourages me to be a better wife and mom. One of the verses that I didn't list is verse 12: "She does him good and not evil ALL the days of her life." Obviously this is talking about a wife's desire for her husband. We live in a world where feelings dominate marriage; for example, if you're feeling mad at him, give him the silent treatment...or give him the cold shoulder and ignore him.. or purposely don't hug or kiss him just because you're mad. And I know I'm just as guilty for being like this sometimes! It's really awful; this verse is talking about loving your husband and accepting him for who he is and desiring to please him and be his helpmate. Some people may roll their eyes or think this is stupid, but it's the way we're supposed to live.Think about it, men love it when their wives respect them more, love them more, honor them more. There's nothing more unattractive and ugly than a wife who is constantly complaining or arguing with her husband, right?!

One other verse that challenges me is verse 30: "Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised." Of course, who doesn't desire to be beautiful? God gives that desire within woman to be beautiful; it's not a bad thing, but that desire can sometimes be taken too far and become the top priority in a woman's life. I'm not gonna lie, I love fitness and love to work out and be tone/thin, BUT I have to realize it's really not the most important thing, becoming more Christ-like and loving others as I should, is!

Well hopefully this has encouraged some of you! I know I struggle tons on this, but I love that there's always hope in becoming more like the virtuous woman day by day.
