A Christmas Tree before Thanksgiving?!

Our Christmas tree is officially up & decorated! And it looks absolutely beautiful. Earlier this week, Rich had asked me if we could possibly put our Christmas tree up a little early this year. Normally, I am all about the famous rule on not listening to any Christmas music or Christmas decorating until AFTER Thanksgiving. But this year is completely different; the past two years my wonderful husband had been in Iraq & Afghanistan serving overseas, therefore missing a couple birthdays, Thanksgivings, Christmases, and Pumpkin Days. (Actually, the deployment before last, his homecoming day was our anniversary; how sweet & romantic is that?!)

So to say the least, my husband is very excited to spend the holidays with us this year, as are Lilly & I! I have to admit, the past two years, my holiday spirit wasn't very high. Dressing up & attending family Christmas parties without having my own family all together, is a little upsetting. As much as I LOVED being with my family in CT and having my little girl with me, it is just not the same without your lover alongside you celebrating the holidays. With that being said, the Griffin family is getting quite the head start on Christmas excitement this year! With cheery Christmas music playing in the background, we decorated our tree with red & gold ornaments & gold ribbon, and I must say that it was truly the BEST thing to watch little Lil get all excited! She kept saying, "Wow! Pretty! Oh wow!" when the tree was finally lit. The past two years, she was a little two young to comprehend everything going on; this year will be so much fun with Daddy home & understand a little more on why we celebrate Christmas!

The stage Lilly in is so much fun. Every stage has its ups and downs, but each one is completely unique and special. Lilly can communicate so much more now that she is two; she understands everything I tell her to do and say, and even though she can be incredibly stubborn & independent, she is the light of our lives. Sometimes I wonder if it is even possible to love another baby as much as I love Lilly. But from what others tell me, it's like your heart just doubles & now you have two or more of your own children who you just love with all your heart. I really can't wait till Lilly sees her new baby sibling for the first time. How fun it will be to watch them grow up together, play together, have sleepovers in each other's bed together, even have the normal fights with each other! I can only pray that God continues to give Rich and I the ability to be the best parents for them.
