Never Get Over Your Salvation
While Lilly is sitting on my lap watching one of her fav movies, Toy Story 3, I figured I'd write another post on some thoughts I've had today (and watch Woody & Buzz, of course!) My last post was about starting your day off with prayer; today I am going to ask another question: When was the last time you truly thanked God for your salvation? Like when did you literally thank Him & take a few minutes to THINK about all He's done for you? Well, I'm guilty, because ever since before Thanksgiving when my family battled the stomach bug, my mind has constantly been filled with distracting thoughts with everything from Christmas shopping to our upcoming visit to CT in a few days (so can't wait!) We live in a fast-paced world that is always looking for the next thing to do or place to go.. no wonder it's so hard to be content and be still, especially around holidays!! I mentioned in my last post that as a mom especially, it's easy to let prayer/morning devotions slip a few slots further down your priority list, and I'm going to admit simply thanking God for your salvation & everything else He's blessed you with, is just has hard sometimes. Today I had a few extra minutes while Lilly was napping & my hubby was out returning the movies to the library, to focus on God without distractions/noise & thank Him for my salvation. If you really think about it, you could find yourself in tears like I did. You can blame it on the pregnancy hormones, but I couldn't help but cry thinking how much God loves someone like me & chose to die for me/everyone to save us despite how bad we are. One of the verses I read was Hebrews 12:2, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." One word stood out to me: "joy." Jesus had joy thinking of you on that cross. It could have said he felt regret, or anything else, but He had joy. Amazing. But, anyway, like I challenged in my last post to believe the power of prayer, today find some time alone and just thank the Lord for saving you. It's the least you can do!
