Motherhood

Saw this beautiful quote via Pinterest tonight as Lilly & I were relaxing on the couch together. I needed to see a quote like this one, especially because each word is 100% true & applicable, especially for me this past weekend.

For some reason, I felt extremely tired due to being prego yesterday & today, and the last thing on my mind that I wanted to do was get off the couch & run around outside & entertain my sweet daughter. I just literally felt exhausted, and it was one of those days where I wished I could just have no distractions and read my book in the peace & quiet, or watch a movie, or do something that didn't require a ton of physical energy (though, I must say exercise helps no matter how exhausted you feel. Ran 3 miles this morning, and it truly works. So if you are feeling lazy & weak, go exercise, it will make you feel ten times better!)

But like this beautiful quote says, sometimes as a Mom, you gotta put yourself last and put your children first. Not saying that is what you absolutely need to do every second of every day, because I believe that you have to take care of yourself as well, or else you won't be able to take care of your family properly. But for the most part, as a parent, the needs of your family should come before your own.

So, as tired & groggy as I felt, I brought our energetic daughter outside to play for a couple hours, and surprisingly, that fresh air energized me to the point where I no longer felt exhausted! Lilly was happy, and so was I. Funny how things work, huh?

Rich & I were talking about parenthood last night when Lilly went to bed. It is such a sacrifice, but such a rewarding & amazing one. Every day I pray that God gives us the ability, patience, & love to teach & raise our little girl. I am so blessed for this gift & responsibility.
