The Potty Princess

I am a very excited, happy momma today. =) Lilly did so well with potty training all day long, & it may not be a big deal to some of you, but to Rich & I, it is, because our daughter was getting pretty stubborn when it came to the potty... and when little Miss is stubborn about something, that means no trying to convince her otherwise.

I introduced the potty very early to her, & looking back, I think that was a mistake.. I think I stressed myself out to the max with our firstborn Lilly by wanting to do things exactly by the book, when in reality, all kids are different, & I should have just let her come to interest in the potty on her own than me forcing it upon her so early.

I am a stresser & perfectionist, always have been, probably always will be.. but I know without a doubt I am committing myself to being more calm, much more relaxed, with this next little baby boy coming in May! It is definitely a live and learn type thing with your firstborn, seeing what really works & what you can do differently with your second & so on.

Anyway, back to the potty. Lilly had been literally petrified of her small pink potty & would not even go near it. So since I am more of a pessimist than an optimist, I figured she wouldn't get it down till probably 4 yrs old at this rate, seriously..

This morning I decided to express my frustration to God over this, & let me just tell you how loving our God is; He cares for the smallest things & loves us so much that even something as silly as potty training your kid is important to Him. I hadn't prayed about potty training in a while. Well after praying, Lilly decides to wear pink underwear (normally she's in diapers) & after one time of asking her if she wanted to try to go pee on Mommy's big potty instead of her small one, she willingly agreed & went peepee- a whole bladder full!

And this went on all day; we even went to the grocery store for an hour & no accidents; when we came home, she told me she had to go & went again on our potty. =) So so happy! It is now 9:30pm and she just went again. TMI for some of you, I know, but to a mom like me, this is encouraging!

We will see how the next few days go. I know some kids do great for a while, then all of a sudden, they regress, but I have hope that MAYBE by May when her little bro shows up, she will be completely potty trained! =) Diapers are ex-pen-sive!

So thankful that God hears the little prayers & answers them as well as the big ones.

Have a good night!
